Bella loves to be creative and weekends are a great time for her to spend time with her toys and also express herself artistically. Yesterday, she came upstairs with a little bowl of cookie cutter Playdoh bears. The black one is mama, white one is papa, and she’s the blue one. Cute eh? Let’s not even get into racial profiling here with the bears…she’s 3. Now I never really had Playdoh growing up, instead preferring books overs dolls and games. So I’m continually fascinated by what my daughter is attracted to do. Playdoh and make believe play for instance. So here are my 5 reasons to love and hate Playdoh.
1. Love/hate: Relatively inexpensive to purchase so I can buy several at a time for less than 5 bucks.
2. Hate: Dries out too fast. Especially when little hands forget to return the Playdoh to the container and mommy forgets too! (see number 1, which then becomes a hate)
3. Love: kids of all sizes can play with this toy pretty quietly. Creativity is stoked easily with a tub of this stuff!
4. Love/Hate: the ice cream parlor toy is pretty neat but honestly there are too many clunky accessories lined up next to the resupply at the store. It is a feat of massive proportions to convince my child she absolutely does not need another big Playdoh ice cream parlor or kitchen set or any of those toys that the d?!$@ dough sticks to and gets stuck and is hard to clean out of the crevices…
5. Hate: have you ever stepped on a little pea size dried up playdoh with bare feet? The sailor in me fights to come out when that happens. The same reaction happens when I step on the dogs kibble in the kitchen. Owwww! Thankfully the dogs have stopped eating Playdoh too.
